Rubicon completes the purchase of Amey Utility Division to form Avove. The utilities arm of Amey was acquired by Rubicon Partners, a specialist industrial private equity investor, focused on acquiring and strategically developing complex industrial businesses. As part of the acquisition, the division has been rebranded as Avove and operates as a separate entity.

Ferrovial, through its subsidiary Ferrovial Services, completed the acquisition of Enterprise PLC, one of the UK’s leading providers of services to the utilities and the public sector. Enterprise PLC was integrated into the UK Ferrovial Services, subsidiary, Amey, creating one of the most diverse companies in the sector. Amey Utility Services reported revenues of £194M and made a pre-tax profit of £5M in 2020.

Enterprise rebranded in 2000 following the merger of Lancashire Enterprises to Enterprise PLC. The business continued to grow its telecoms and water operations, whilst expanding its service offerings into Gas and Electric through the acquisitions of Dewsbury Civil Engineering (DCE) and Bethel Power, and into the public and Defence sectors with other acquisitions such as Accord and HBM – Increasing revenues to £1billion

Lancashire Enterprises was established in 1983 as the economic development arm of Lancashire County Council and employed more than 300 people.

ARM services were founded in 1964 by Ashton, Rogers & McLean, initially operating from a yard in Hesketh, West Lancashire before establishing its main Headquarters in Chorley, Lancashire. The business established itself in the telecoms sector, delivering civils works for the General Post Office (latterly British Telecom) and later entered the water sector, working with Northwest water & Yorkshire Water in Amp 1.
