Avove celebrates with colleagues as it is accredited as a Real Living Wage Employer

Colleagues who work at Avove have been guaranteed that they will be paid at least the Real Living Wage, which is higher than the National Minimum Wage, as the company has been accredited as a Real Living Wage Employer.

We have given a long-term commitment to our colleagues that they will continue to be paid the Real Living Wage, at the very least. This aims to ensure that colleagues are paid a fair wage, can meet their everyday needs and will support them through the cost-of-living crisis and beyond.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues to unfold, it is now more important than ever that Avove, and the industry, prioritise its workforce’s wellbeing and financial security to continue delivering service excellence to its clients, communities and customers.

Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do, and we are fully committed to their wellbeing. We are extremely proud to be accredited as a Real Living Wage Employer and to be leading the way in the utilities industry. We firmly believe that paying at least the Real Living Wage is not just a benefit of working at Avove but a fundamental right. We have a fantastic team who deliver customer excellence for our clients, customers and communities where we work and live, and I would like to thank them for what they achieve every day.”

Avove is one of only 14,000 Real Living Wage employers countrywide who have committed to going further than the Government minimum in the interest of their colleagues.

Independently calculated each year based on living costs, the revised Real Living Wage is the only hourly rate calculated to help people meet their everyday needs. This rate is higher than the National Living Wage, the statutory amount calculated by the Government and the minimum amount an employer has to pay by law.

About The Real Living Wage

The Real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate based on the cost of living. It is voluntarily paid by over 14,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs – like the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist.

Over 460,000 employees have received a pay rise as a result of the Living Wage campaign, and the movement enjoys cross-party support. The foundation has a broad range of employers accredited including half of the FTSE 100 and big household names including Nationwide, Google, LUSH, Everton FC and Aviva, as well as water clients Severn Trent and United Utilities, as well as thousands of SMEs.
