Avove Volunteers Support Local Community Hub

Volunteers from Avove’s Severn Trent contract lend a helping hand in local community

We’re committed to making a positive impact within the local areas and communities in which we live and work. Find out how our colleagues working on our Severn Trent contract supported a local community through volunteering at their community hub.

Supporting a lifeline for the local community

A number of our colleagues spent a day making a difference at the Sandiacre Friendship Hub, which is part of the local Kings Road Area Neighbourhood Watch. This community hub is so much more than a space where people can come together – it’s a lifeline for those in need.

The hub offers a free food stall, which is open four days a week and allows anyone access to what they need without judgement. There is also a friendly café, which offers a warm and welcoming space where people can connect, share stories and find support. The hub is also encouraging local people to embrace the digital world through their Digital Inclusion Project, hosting events to educate and entertain. Finally, the hub also encourages eco-friendly habits by promoting recycling.

A rewarding experience

Our volunteers – Ola, Roksana, Anna, Finlay and Sianie, got to work lending their time, energy and care to supporting community through a variety of activities. Reflecting on their experience, our volunteers said:

“I felt a great joy within me in helping the elderly, serving them food and training them on how to use iPads and smartphones to access important websites. I really enjoyed myself.”

Ola | Commercial Finance Manager

“It was such a good experienced, I enjoyed helping people with their needs.”

Roksana | Assistant Quantity Surveyor

“I did enjoy the community day a lot. I was nice to see us all getting involved.”

Anna | Senior Quantity Surveyor

“I very much enjoyed it. It was nice to see people helping each other in the community – a very positive experience.”

Sianie | Quantity Surveyor
