Liz Groundland

Position: Head of HSEQ

Liz, who graduated with a degree in Total Quality Management, has worked in the construction and civils industry for over 20 years. In 2018, Liz obtained a Credit in NEBOSH Construction Safety and has also completed a Management Development Leadership Programme at Manchester Business School. Liz is an experienced HSEQ professional, and has been an associated member of CQI for more than 10 years and is a trained lead auditor with experience in internal, external and third party audits.

What does the head of HSEQ do?

My main role as head of HSEQ is to lead the safety, health, environment and quality assurance at Avove – setting the vision, strategy and plan to ensure HSEQ is embodied in everything we do.

I lead a team of experienced H&S Advisors – one of our main aims is to prevent accidents, injuries and work-related illness. As a team, we coordinate and manage work systems to ensure the services we deliver meet the highest standards, and that working conditions are safe and meet legal requirements. This includes formulating H&S policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, taking responsibility for first aid procedures and training our teams in H&S procedures – to name a few areas we cover.

Safety is our highest priority so everything we do under HSEQ will be linked to Work Together > Safe Together. We want our colleagues to work as a team and remain protected, healthy and empowered – ensuring they go home healthy and happy at the end of every working day

What do you like about working for Avove?

I am passionate about creating systems which are user friendly whist always being totally committed to the ethos of right first time and this is embodied at Avove. Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, we are able to work with our teams to deliver the best service in a safe way.

Do you have any advice for someone looking to work at Avove?

Go for it. It’s a really interesting industry to be part of. Yes it’s challenging but it’s also exciting and we have some amazing projects we are working on to deliver for our clients.
