Position: Assistant Engineer

Morisho achieved a Level 3 extended Diploma in Engineering, before he graduated from The University of Birmingham where he studied BEng Civil Engineering. After graduating, Morisho, joined an agency and worked across a number of sectors including rail, gas and highways, before joining Avove.

What does an Assistant Engineer do?

I work within a multidisciplinary team on a wide variety of exciting projects covering all aspects of Wastewater and Clean Water networks and treatment facilities throughout the project lifestyle – from feasibility design through detailed design to construction.

One of my main roles is the diversion of existing water mains and designing the proposed diversion route in accordance with our clients’ requirements and design standards, whilst achieving cost-effective solutions.

As a team, we have a daily meeting to discuss the projects we are working on so we can prioritise our work. I liaise with our operations team to discuss the projects and also liaise with the client.

What do you like about working for Avove?

Avove offers its colleagues great learning opportunities – we work with a team of experts in this field and it’s fantastic to be able to have the chance to work on some of our exciting projects together.

I enjoy the work environment and the flexibility that working here offers. We are trusted as a team to do our jobs as the decisions we make, as a team, can have a big impact on how projects are delivered. I love being able to work on a design on a piece of paper or in AutoCad and then visiting the sites to see the design come to life – it is really satisfying.

Do you have any advice for someone looking to work at Avove?

To get into engineering, you have to have a basic understanding of how to use AutoCad, the principle of water engineering and methods used to make water mains connections.
